Beadwork by Nicole Woodbury

Home

The beadwork on this page was done by a student who is now 16 years old. She has been creating beadwork since the age of eight. She learned to beadwork from her grandmother, Mary, whose beadwork is displayed on the first page of the beadwork section. Nicole says that her grandmother taught her the "basic stuff" like how to thread the needle; how to cut out the pattern and the fabric; and how to tack the beads down. From then on, she's been teaching herself more complex skills by looking at the works created by others and then trying it on her own. She is now skilled enough to duplicate many of the designs she sees to create her beadwork.

This is a barette with a flower motif and

beaded edging.

These beaded eggs are used as

decorative items.

This keychain is done with beads and leather.

This doll was made by hand and then dressed in a handmade

traditional outfit which includes the leggings, skirt, shirt,

and moccasins. The clothing is accentuated with beadwork

and she carries a beaded basket.
